Special Delivery

Greetings!  I’m feeling a little shabby and chic.  I used Prima packing cardboard for the frame and border.  Also, a bit of burlap, dies, Special Delivery Stamp, brad and some beautiful GCD Studio’s designer paper.  Mom crocheted the little pink flower and leaf

Paris Night

Paris Night Framed Art was inspired by the g.c.d Studio paper I spotted while at my favorite scrapbook store.  The paper is double sided and has a bit of a shimmer to it.  I also used Prima border and the flower off another flourish piece (#544485 and 544492).
The frame is 11” x 14” and was a thrift store find and it was chipped in some places, so I used my scissors to distress all the edges.  I’m thinking of giving our bathroom a bit of a facelift and may go with black, cream, burgundy and pink.  My hubby won’t be happy to hear that this picture may be the cause of a bathroom redo. LOL!  I used my Glue Glider Pro (Perma Tac) to adhere to the frame backboard.

Configurations Box

My favorite scrapbook store is the RC on Main, located at 222 Main, in Charles City Iowa.  Charles City is my hometown and sweet mama still lives there so I get to frequent this shop often.  Erin is the Manager of the store and she put together a package of goodies for me so I could make a sample for the store.  It included Tim’s Configuration Box and Tissue Tape (Symphony), Jenni Bowlin number stickers and chipboard banners and Maya Road, Ruffled Blossoms in Red and Cream.

As you can see, I decided to stack the lid on top.  I stitched the work “journey”and also some stems for the flowers.  I used Glue Arts, Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks to add the little figurines. Extreme Tac  was used to hold the burlap securely in place. 



*NOTE
Hot Glue won’t stick to the tissue tape.  I just scraped away areas of tissue tape where I wanted to apply hot glue.


Apply Extreme Tac to the back of the lid.  Stick the stitched burlap piece in place.  Trim edges.

Stick Tissue Tape to scrap cardstock.  Sew leaf shapes on the sewing machine and cut out.  Hot Glue in place.

Heart and Soul Canvas

A mixed media production, just for you!  I’m really enjoying canvas art and had so much fun with the design and bright colors on my canvas.

Here’s a few of the steps
1.)  Start with a 12’ x 12” canvas. (My Mind’s Eye)
2.)  Lightly mist Glimmer Mist for the background colors. (Cranberry, Harvest Orange, Caribbean Blue and Chalk, Banana Pudding and Cotton Candy)
3.)  Using Cricut and George Cartridge (Provo Craft) and Car Accents Vinyl Décor (Glue Arts), cut a 4.25” & sign.

4.)  Remove the backing from the vinyl and place the “&” sign to the right of the center.
5.)  Using a brayer or mini roller and yellow paint, roll over the “&” sign until you’ve reached the desired coverage. (Folk Art, Morning Sun)
6.)  Let dry and remove the “&” sign.
HEART letters
1.)  I used Prima metal flower (549725) as a stencil on the letters and misted with “Bubble Gum” Glimmer Mist.  Let dry.  The canvas letters are Donna Downey, Prima.  They come in assorted words and I used the “he” and “art” and combined, made the word heart.

2.)  Use two Prima leaves to make a heart that will be placed under the letter “a”.  Glue in place and then glue the “a” in place.
LEAVES
1.)  Using a hot glue gun and glue sticks (Glue Arts)., run a line of glue through the center of the leaf and sprinkle with Bead Treasures, Czech Green Glass Beads.)  Repeat this for all the leaves and then to add beads around the heart under the letter “a”.

FLOWER STEMS
1.)  Cut different widths of Fanciful Flight paper. (Prima)
2.)  Adhere stems with “Extreme Tac” (Glue Arts)
Prepare to be amazed at how well the  “Extreme Tac” sticks to canvas!!!

Happy Friday!  The kids and I will be visiting Mom today and helping her with some yard work and cleaning.  I haven't seen enough of Mom lately and I'm going to enjoy our time together.
I'm so happy with the way my canvas turned out..and I love the message.

Oh what fun to go to the mail box and have a special package from Amy.  She had so many little treasures tucked inside and a cute little handmade card!  We're talking clock parts galore, wooden bumble bee's, a sweet bunny tin with jelly beans inside, the cutest little yellow chick, beads, gold leaves, paper clips, ribbon and more!  Have a look :)

1912 Correspondence and Photo

Can you guess where I found this frame?  Yep, a thrift store.  I painted the green frame black and let it dry.  Then it was Mod Podge time!  I applied Mod Podge to random areas on the frame and then placed a page from an early 1900’s dictionary on top of the Mod Podge.  Let this dry completely and then sand off the excess paper.

I decided to leave off the moon…I liked it better with soft Prima goodness!
Use the Glue Glider Pro on the back of the vintage envelope and photo.

Farm Fresh Brown Eggs: Altered Style

Now seriously!  Have you ever altered a hard boiled egg?  LOL!  I was boiling eggs the other day and thought…these natural beauties should be altered and decorated.  I gathered up some May Arts Ribbon, Creative Charms and my Crafty Secrets Artsy Banner set and got to work.  The Glue Glider Pro works perfectly for adding ribbon and lace.  Hot glue was used for the brads.  I misted a couple of the eggs with Glimmer Mist to add a little more color to my basket of eggs. They really are so much fun and I like how they turned out.  What do you think?  If you make some altered eggs, let me know cause I’d love to take a peek!

Birdbath Mini Album: Recycling with Glue Arts

Hello friends!  I made a 5.5” x 5.5” Mini Album and really like the way it turned out!  Glue Arts has a challenge to Recycle, Reuse and Repurpose.  I used my Glue Glider Pro to adhere the ribbon, tulle and birdbath.
Here are the items I’ve recycled:
~Corrugated Cardboard from a pizza box
~A dictionary page from an early 1900’s dictionary.  It’s amazing how these pages have naturally aged.  I distressed it a bit with my sanding block.
The Chenille/Center Dot Ribbon is May Arts. (WP34).   The little Sugar Pick pins are Jillibean Soup.  White and black acrylic paint is Plaid.
I used Glossy Accents in the birdbath and did a touch of coloring for the water with a Copic Marker.   Mom crocheted my flower.  Lucky me!  The corrugated cardboard pages were distressed with Distrezz-It All and the Album was bound with Bind-It All and gold Owires by Zutter.  A bit of Silver Smooch was added to the cover where I sanded through the dictionary page.The sweet little bird is Prima.
