Configurations Box

My favorite scrapbook store is the RC on Main, located at 222 Main, in Charles City Iowa.  Charles City is my hometown and sweet mama still lives there so I get to frequent this shop often.  Erin is the Manager of the store and she put together a package of goodies for me so I could make a sample for the store.  It included Tim’s Configuration Box and Tissue Tape (Symphony), Jenni Bowlin number stickers and chipboard banners and Maya Road, Ruffled Blossoms in Red and Cream.

As you can see, I decided to stack the lid on top.  I stitched the work “journey”and also some stems for the flowers.  I used Glue Arts, Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks to add the little figurines. Extreme Tac  was used to hold the burlap securely in place. 



*NOTE
Hot Glue won’t stick to the tissue tape.  I just scraped away areas of tissue tape where I wanted to apply hot glue.


Apply Extreme Tac to the back of the lid.  Stick the stitched burlap piece in place.  Trim edges.

Stick Tissue Tape to scrap cardstock.  Sew leaf shapes on the sewing machine and cut out.  Hot Glue in place.

1912 Correspondence and Photo

Can you guess where I found this frame?  Yep, a thrift store.  I painted the green frame black and let it dry.  Then it was Mod Podge time!  I applied Mod Podge to random areas on the frame and then placed a page from an early 1900’s dictionary on top of the Mod Podge.  Let this dry completely and then sand off the excess paper.

I decided to leave off the moon…I liked it better with soft Prima goodness!
Use the Glue Glider Pro on the back of the vintage envelope and photo.

Tabitha

Tabitha and “y Girl are new stamps by Scroll’s work (Plate #73).  She just happens to be on sale right now for $3.56 (Reg. $4.75).  My design team stamps came in the mail and they’re all so neat!  There’s steampunk, Alice and children stamps.  I ordered full plates (a full sheet of red rubber stamps that you’ll cut out yourself.)  I was in the mood for a bit of mixed media today.  The frame was a thrift store find.  I painted it red, let it dry and then painted it black..a little sanding and it was ready for some script.  I applied Mod Podge to areas of the frame, let it dry and then sanded the loose paper off.  The tape measure and tag are  Tim Holtz.

Springtime Home Decor

Good mornin’ to my blogging buddies!  This was a Christmas ornament that I picked up at a thrift store.  It was getting tattered, which I love…BUT the colors and inside had to go!  LOL!  I altered it using sheet music, Crafty Secrets Images (one for each side), May Arts Ribbon and a bit of moss.  I used Mod Podge to apply the sheet music.

The more I sit and look at this piece, the more I think it may become part of a larger project! 

Farm Fresh Brown Eggs: Altered Style

Now seriously!  Have you ever altered a hard boiled egg?  LOL!  I was boiling eggs the other day and thought…these natural beauties should be altered and decorated.  I gathered up some May Arts Ribbon, Creative Charms and my Crafty Secrets Artsy Banner set and got to work.  The Glue Glider Pro works perfectly for adding ribbon and lace.  Hot glue was used for the brads.  I misted a couple of the eggs with Glimmer Mist to add a little more color to my basket of eggs. They really are so much fun and I like how they turned out.  What do you think?  If you make some altered eggs, let me know cause I’d love to take a peek!

Altered Corset Lamp

Remember the little corset lamp I bought at the thrift store?  Well, I got a chance to tear it apart and alter it.  I recycled the black lace from an old Halloween costume. It was a bit too shear so I added some black fabric behind it.   I used May Arts ribbon at the top.  The ribbon is about 2” wide, so I sewed 4 pieces together to make it wide enough.  The little flower is also May Arts and I gathered  a 2 inch piece, added a bead and sewed it in the center.  I hand stitched the lace and fabric to the corset, added the cups and flower and PRESTO!

The Greatest Show on Earth!

The Graphic 45 Le Cirque line has been so much fun to work with.  I've gone to my toybox for tinkertoys, spoolies, cubes, peat pots and paperdolls!  Today's post is "The Greatest Show on Earth" because it includes many of my Le Cirque projects.  My best advice is if you'd like to feel like a kid again, this line is a must have!  There's a Ticket Master Station, Circus Cars, A Big Top, Carousel, Altered peat pot, lady on a high wire, spoolies and paperdolls!

LeCirque Carousel

Come one, Come all!  This is going to come as a great surprise..I used Graphic 45 papers again!  LOL...I really just can't help myself!  I'm sharing a LeCirque Carousel that's made by altering a vintage tin. All papers are Graphic 45 and the Creative Charms products I used are GB-407 (Gradient Brads), VP-7322-R7 (Craft Embellishments), VP-8209 (Vintage Brads), V2-7523-Red and Black Velvet Poppy). The four smaller carousel tops are 3" circles that have been folded in half 4 times. The main carousel top is 10.5". The little toppers are made using the Creative Charms products listed above. The tin is complete with circus peanuts!  Be sure to stop in tomorrow for "THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH"!
